K-12 Interior Designer

Department: SHA - Studio
Location: Shanghai, SH

Perkins Eastman is seeking enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated individuals interested in joining our team of international education planners and designers, and to be part of our growing K-12 practice in Asia. Our Shanghai office is currently interviewing interior designers at all levels to assist/lead in the design and project delivery of innovative learning environments.

The candidate must demonstrate the following: knowledge of the building type, experience in delivering interior design projects in China, strong design and technical skills, Auto-cad and Revit proficiency, good visualization skills, familiarity with local construction processes and ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Bi-lingual Mandarin-English skills preferred, minimum 3 years of professional experience required.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepares design plans, elevations and details, reflected ceiling plans, millwork design, furniture layouts, finish plans, color plans and schedules.

•Demonstrates understanding of the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts.

•Manipulates basic design elements such as proportion, color, light, texture & scale.

• Provides color/finish/material research and selection.

•Prepares presentation materials and models for client presentations.

•Adheres to firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.

•Present Interior Design concepts to clients and consultants.

•Coordinate with client, contractor, and project team as appropriate per project

•Responsible for internal presentation of project design materials to Principal in Charge

 

Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year CIDA accredited Interior Design program or equivalent

•LEED certified or pursuing certification preferred

•NCIDQ certified or pursuing certification preferred

•Knowledge of the building type, experience in delivering interior design projects in China

•Strong design and technical skills, Auto-cad and Revit proficiency, good visualization skills

•Possesses knowledge of building and ADA codes

•Familiarity with local construction processes and ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment

•Understanding of interior construction documents including: floor plans, floor finish plans, elevations and details, finish schedules, furniture plans

•Understanding of FF&E specifications, FF&E matrices, and budgets

•Bi-lingual Mandarin-English skills preferred, minimum 3 years of professional experience required
